I’m Jonathan Spees, principal and founder of Marine Street Consulting, LLC.
Marine Street Consulting is a boutique advisory firm specializing in Mergers & Acquisitions and healthcare strategy. I have managed billions of dollars of healthcare and retirement services transactions in my career. My work has ranged in scope from complex, multi-entity joint venture transactions to straight forward single entity acquisitions and divestitures. I have also raised hundreds of millions of dollars in private equity capital, and in senior and subordinated debt financing for acquisitions and operations.
Experience
My clients have included multi-state healthcare systems, community hospitals, physician organizations, managed care companies, and retirement plan administrators. I have advised the private sector, public sector, for-profit and not-for-profit facilities and systems. And I have executed transactions as principal and one of the founders of my own for-profit hospital management companies and with my own, my partners’, and my private equity sponsors’, money.

I have hands on experience as a Board member and senior financial executive in facing the difficult issues that leaders face in today’s rapidly evolving new world. I understand the importance of maintaining focus on day-to-day operations in the midst of the chaos of a potential transaction. And I have the knowledge and deep understanding to help.

Experience is well and good, but what clients want and need are transactions to close. Once the decision to start down an affiliation or divestiture path is made, failure to bring the process to a successful result can have significant untoward consequences. I understand the nuances involved in closing deals and the importance of working closely with all members of deal teams, including transaction counsel (legal, regulatory, environmental, tax, compliance and reimbursement), senior management, physician and community leaders, and Board members. I understand how to address and resolve the myriad issues which inevitably occur in negotiations and due diligence.
